Looking for Sublease
I am looking for someone to take up my lease in a 2 bedrooms duplex at 1014 West A Street, starting either next month or in January. The house is clean, fairly spacious, and consists of hardwood throughout. There is a washer and a dryer right next to the kitchen, which does lack a dishwasher, but is otherwise fully equipped. The bathroom is shared, but there is more than enough space to make it work between two people. The bath-tub was fully refurbished in May. As for my room, it has a ton of space. I've fit in my bed, the small table behind it and a solid desk, but it still feels almost empty. Although I had to install them myself, I would be willing to leave the curtains in place, as well as the mirror. If you prefer, I can of course remove the curtains and you can install your own, or negotiate with the property manager to install blinds, as she has expressed a willingness to do so. The lease runs through May, and rent is $400 per month. The internet will run you $22.50 a month, and utilities are around $17 a month. All told, the place is a fairly inexpensive $440 a month. If need be, I would be willing to cover first month's rent. Also, I feel like I should be honest about why I want to get out of here. My roommate and I simply do not get along. He keeps the place clean, mostly minds his business, and is quiet. But, he's also damn hard to live with. I consider myself a pretty solid roommate, insofar as I have a laid-back demeanor, keep the place clean, and rarely make much noise past midnight, yet he consistently gives off the vibe that I am a problem. If I make a bit of noise past midnight and wake him up, I am the problem despite his being an extremely light sleeper. If I don't wipe the counter or forget to turn the lights off, I am the problem. If the fire alarm goes off because I accidentally didn't notice how smoky it was while cooking, I am the problem. He expects nearly complete adjustment from you to his ways, and gives little back in the way of empathy. That said, if you rarely smoke weed, aren't much of a night owl, have the same cleaning standards as him, and adhere to the same mentality that he apparently grew used to in his frat, then you might be able to make it work until the lease is up in May. I know that I can't. Feel free to contact me for more information. I would be happy to meet with you in-person, both to give you a tour and to discuss the situation further. Of course, I would also be happy to set up a meeting between you and my roommate.
